IT Business Value Consultant or Analyst

We are looking for an Associate IT Business Value Consultant. We would prefer to initially work on a contract (1099) basis with the option to hire full time, if appropriate.

Responsibilities: Provide a variety of IT business value consulting services, primarily for Microsoft products/technologies

• IT business value assessment and measurement
• Interview (telephonic or in person) customers to estimate the business value of various technology solutions
• Technology assessment, evaluation and selection
• Contribute to development of business value methodologies and tools
• Business-IT portfolio or project alignment
• Write white papers and case studies about the business value of technologies
• Technology mapping and planning
• Assist in business development activities

This person will most likely be based out of their home office anywhere in the US (broadband Internet access is critical) and should have the ability to travel up to 60% of the time

Required Qualifications:

• BA/BS Technology or Business; MBA or equivalent desired
• 5-10 years of experience (preferably in mix of business and IT)
• Experience/knowledge of IT business value concepts (e.g. ROI, TCO, developing business cases)
• Broad (but not necessarily deep) technology knowledge (e.g. Microsoft Windows [client and server], other server products, knowledge worker productivity solutions, BI, integration, etc.)
• Very strong analytical skills (e.g. spreadsheet modeling, financial analysis, ad hoc analysis)
• Understanding of business and financial management principles and practices
• General understanding of business processes in a broad range of industries
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
• Excellent follow-up; attention to detail
• Self-driven and highly motivated to work independently as well as in teams

Preferred Qualifications:

• Consulting experience
• Understanding of and experience using common IT business valuation tools and methodologies (e.g. Gartner's Total Cost Ownership or Total Value of Opportunity, Microsoft's Rapid Economic Justification, Forrester's Total Economic Impact, etc.)
• General project management experience
• Experience in aligning business goals with technology initiatives
• Experience in or knowledge of IT management, strategic planning, architecture planning, operations, benchmarking, and competitive analysis
